Summary: "It shouldn't take 10 Days to ship something 700 miles away..."

I ordered this lighter in a purchase that included a book, replacement wicks, replacement flints, and lighter fluid. The lighter and the book were both from Amazon while the wicks and flints were from Splendor Inc. where I got free shipping, and the fluid was from AmericanRx (i think) with $3.50 shipping. The book and the wicks and flints came after five days and the fluid came in eight, which means that there was two days that I had everything i needed for the lighter except for the stupid lighter itself. I expected more from Amazon. I can't fathom why it took the Zippo twice as long as the book to arrive when they were purchased on the same day and from nearly the same location. Amazon suggests that things purchased with free shipping take 5-9 days and that proved true with the book. Some of my previous purchases take even less time. But this time the Zippo took even LONGER than the maximum amount of time it should take which, to me, doesn't make any sense. It came from Indiana and i figure that if the people just walked from Indiana to my house for ten hours each day, it would only take 5 days for the Zippo to arrive. Instead, thanks to the EXTREMELY unreliable United States Postal Service, (and why Amazon doesn't ship through UPS is beyond me...) it took a week and a half to ship something smaller than a deck of cards. On the flip side, the lighter is good. Everything to expect from a Zippo. The bottom line is that if you have a week and a half to go lighterless, order it. If you don't mind spend an extra $6 by buying the lighter at a sotre, don't use amazon. And if you NEED the lighter ASAP, never trust free shipping.
